Garden working bee Friday July 30th, 9am to 1pm, (weather permitting).

A garden is being developed at the college with two classes timetabled to study horticulture.

Businesses, from Bunnings, Mainfreight and Kiwirail to the East Tamaki Stihl shop have lent us a hand to bring the area behind the gym back to life. Horticulture used to be taught there, but then the area became derelict.

Family members are warmly invited along to a working bee Friday July 30th, from 9am to 1pm, to set up the no-dig beds. No-dig keeps weeds down. Four beds are being laid out – one for taro and banana, one for native bush, one for flowers and shrubs and one for veges.

Over 60 people have signed up to take part so far. Lunch will be provided. Family members are invited to bring along any spare taro shoots or banana pups for us to keep in the greenhouse until warmer weather arrives.
