English Department

The English department are excited to welcome back students into our classrooms this week. I know the English teachers, similarly to our students, have struggled to be apart from their classrooms and their learners. Our focus now is on ensuring that your son/daughter is settledhappy and able to get back on track comfortably with their learning and routines. This will require support from the department, from whanau and an engagement and willingness from the students themselves. We’re all in this together.

Changes to English Help Centre

We will be offering additional support sessions to those senior students who have struggled to keep on top of work during lockdown. On the day where a senior class has their English teacher during period 5, they will be expected to remain in class until 4pm with their English teacher to gain support in getting back on top of work. This is applicable to all senior English students who are behind in their studies. Please communicate this message to your son/daughter and support us in getting them back on track. Our teachers are willing to go the extra mile for them.

Normal Wednesday and Thursday Help Centres will not be running in Term 2 as they were in Term 1.

If you have any concerns in regard to your son or daughters English studies, please do not hesitate to contact me on enorgate@otahuhucollege.school.nz(Ms Norgate, Head of English)
