English News Update

It has been wonderful to have the students walk back through our doors this week. They have been an absolute credit to themselves in the manner they have returned, refocused and committed to catching up on their studies. I know the English teachers have missed their students! If your son/daughter has still not returned to school, please encourage them to contact their English teacher.

Changes to English Help Centre

We will be offering additional support sessions to those senior students who have struggled to keep on top of work during lockdown. On the day where a senior class has their English teacher during period 5, they will be expected to remain in class until 4pm with their English teacher to gain support in getting back on top of work. This is applicable to all senior English students who are behind in their studies. Please communicate this message to your son/daughter and support us in getting them back on track. Our teachers are willing to go the extra mile for them. Normal Wednesday and Thursday Help Centres will not be running in Term 2 as they were in Term 1.

If you have any concerns regarding your son or daughters English studies, please do not hesitate to contact me on enorgate@otahuhucollege.school.nz. (Ms Norgate, Head of English)

Junior English

All juniors are working on a novel study. Each junior class is studying a different text. Please discuss at home with your child what they are reading and what the text is about. Discussion surrounding texts at home can help build independent thinking in our students.

Senior English

All senior students are working towards getting on top of their work this week for new teaching to take place next week.
