We invited our school community to celebrate and acknowledge the Māori new year or Matariki. Te Waka a Rangi was on display again this year in the library for people who have lost loved ones and friends to come and write their name on a star. It is said every year at Matariki the souls of those that have past are gathered up into the net of Te Waka a Rangi and cast into the sky to settle as stars watching over us J
Ngā mihi nui kia Waikaraka Ruwhiu-Toms for the support during this special time of celebration. For the week student librarians started an initiative to help clean up around the school, doing their bit to protect our whenua in preparation of planting our trees within the library garden space.
