Science News – Seniors

SCI1U  Student will be starting their 1.1 (Mechanicsassessment. This is an external assessment and is generally taught in 5 weeks (actual time frame is still to be decided) and examined at the end of the year during NCEA exams. Students will get tasks through Education Perfect and supplemented with tasks from their class teacher. The subject teacher will email with details. 
SCI1C  Students will be working on their 1.2 internal assessment. This is a research internal which can be done independently. Their subject teacher will provide guidance through email and zoom. Tasks that will help them understand the context will be provided through Education perfect and supplemented with tasks from JCB. She will email you with details.  
BIO2U  Students have been given a formative (practice assessment) last week. Due to the practical nature of the assessment, the summative (real) assessment will be put on hold till further notice. Students will get refreshed on the topic before they are assessed on this. 

Week 2 of term 2: Students will be starting their 2.2 internal assessment. This is a research internal on a socio-scientific issue determined by their teacher.  The context of the internal assessment will be taught before they need to start their research 

CHE2U  Students will continue with the external 2.4 (Demonstrate understanding of bonding, structure, properties and energy changes). Students will get tasks through Education Perfect and supplemented with tasks from their class teacher. The subject teacher will email with details. 
PHY2U  Students were due to do their 2.1 internal assessment but due to the practical nature of the assessment this will be put on hold till further notice.  

Term 2: students will be instead working on their 2.4 external assessment. This will be assessed at the end of the year during the NCEA exams. Their subject teacher will provide guidance through email and zoom. Specific tasks will be set by Mr Duff and Mr Walton.  

BIO3U  Students are to continue with their 3.2 internal assessment. This is a research assessment that can be done independently. Students are supposed to share their report with KRB, who will give feedback each week. If students are stuck, they are recommended to email KRB (or chat through teams).  KRB will also hold zoom sessions with individual students on request during school hours (9am-4pm) 
CHE3U  Students will continue to work on the 3.3 internal assessment. This is a research internal that can be done independently. The context of this internal assessment is gold mining. Their subject teaching will be providing them guidance through email and zoom.  
PHY3U  Students were due to do their 3.1 internal assessment but due to the practical nature of the assessment this will be put on hold till further notice.  

Term 2: students will be instead working on their 3.4 external assessment. This will be assessed at the end of the year during the NCEA exams. Their subject teacher will provide guidance through email and zoom. Specific tasks will be set by Mr Duff and Mr Walton.
