Year 11 Science – visit to the Zoo

Despite the weather on Wednesday our three level one Science classes visited the Auckland Zoo. On this excursion they attended an education session that gave students a better understanding of how the environment shapes the features and behaviours of organisms. They also learned some interesting facts about the animals that can be found in New Zealand; for example, the Tuatara has a third eye and give birth to live babies. An interesting experience students encounted on this trip was the aggressive behaviour of the baboons towards pupils that were having snacks near their enclosure.
